Princess Monalisa Homemade Spicy Suya

Princess Monalisa Homemade Spicy Suya
Introduction
Suya—also known as yaji or suya pepper—is a beloved West African spice blend used to marinate grilled meat skewers. It’s a staple in Nigerian cuisine and a must-try for flavor enthusiasts. Here’s how to make your own homemade suya spice:

Ingredients
Crushed Bouillon Cubes (preferably Maggi cubes)
Garlic Powder
Ground Ginger
Hot Red Pepper (Cayenne works well)
Onion Powder
Roasted Groundnut (peanut powder also works)
Smoked Paprika
White Pepper
Instructions
Roast the Groundnut:
Mix hot boiling water with peanut butter until a thick, dark brown mixture forms.
Crumble the mixture onto a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. Let it cool for about 10 minutes.
Prepare the Spice Blend:
Blend the red chilies together with nutmeg using a dry grinder (coffee grinder).
Combine the groundnut powder, crushed bouillon cubes, garlic powder, ground ginger, hot red pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika, and white pepper. Adjust proportions to control spiciness.
Usage
Rub the suya spice onto meats (beef, chicken, or goat) before grilling.
Try it on roasted vegetables for a spicy kick.
Get creative—suya spice elevates any dish!
Remember, the secret to great suya lies in the balance of smokiness, nuttiness, and heat. Enjoy! 🌶️🍖
